I was in the mood to try another sushi spot in the area. So I researched some places on Yelp and saw that my fellow yelpers recommended this place. When I first got there, I wasn't sure if it was closed since there was no one there. But once we entered, a very nice lady sat us down. We ordered their grilled squid, a bottle of fermented sake that the waitress recommended and a large platter of sashimi, sushi and magic rolls. The squid was absolutely fabulous; it was cooked perfectly and paired so well with the spicy mayo. The fermented sake was rich and refreshing. The platter of sashimi, sushi and rolls were beautifully presented on a boat which made the whole dish look even more appetizing. All of the fish was very fresh with a great texture and the rolls were packed with flavor. The miso soups that came with the sashimi deluxe were very tasty as well. All of the items on the menu were fairly priced and the menu had a vast selection for any type of eater. Our server was very friendly and attentive throughout our whole dining experience; I would most definitely return.
Great food. Phenomenal service. Cool space. Really enjoyed my time here. Ate wayyyyyy too much, but it was totally worth it!! Really HEAVY pour on the wine :) Can't wait to go back.
I came on mv lunch break around 4 and the restaurant was empty and quiet! Loved it. Peaceful for sure. ordered pork gyoza, yellowtail and jalapeño, and spicy kani roll. So so so good. Also got sake! service was great, they were super attentive, but of course it was just me lol I'll be back here for sure.
Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Ambiance - Dark, Romantic LOVED the toro tataki, veggie tempura, and Salmon Platter.
If you want a super solid choice for sushi in this neighborhood, look no further just go to Aji Sushi House. Compared to other spots in the area it's not swarmed with people and you can have a nice intimate meal with fabulous service. Everyone was incredibly nice here they threw in a bunch of freebies on a date night I came on a random Friday. My dinner portion was so large I had leftovers for 2 days and reheated them because they were that good!
I see why this sushi spot has such great reviews! Heads up, they do thoroughly check for vaccination card and ID, so make sure you have both to dine in. We started with the tuna tartare. In a nice soy type sauce. Good starter. The sushi was amazing! And I liked that they had rolls available for people who don't eat shellfish. We were able to eat the Valentines Roll, the Dittmars Roll, and the Astoria roll. All were excellent with very fresh, melt in your mouth fish. Generous servings of caviar and a great wasabi sauce on the Valentines roll, was soooo good. We also ordered the lo mein noodles, also very tasty. Noodles were flavorful and not greasy! Staff was great too. Can't wait to come back here for more sushi!
We ordered takeout from Aji, since we've been looking for new sushi spots in Queens. We came in expecting good quality standard sushi and were not disappointed. At first glance the regular rolls (left container in picture) did feel a bit smaller than normal and I was slightly worried that it might not be enough for 2 hungry people. However, as we kept eating it ended up filling us up. For the regular rolls, the salmon avo and eel avo were what you'd expect. I would highlight that the yellowtail scallion tasted especially fresh and the scallop with crunch roll was something new for us and was absolutely delicious! The pieces of crunch paired with the smooth scallop with the slight hit of spiciness made for a great melding of flavors. The paradise roll had shrimp tempura and avo inside and spicy salmon on top. This was pleasant as well though it was more expected than mind-blowing. The mango Hawaii roll came with a mango sauce which was delicious by itself but didn't do as much for me when added to the sushi. The thin slices of mango with the avocado and salmon made for a pleasantly sweeter roll with the tiny crunch from the tobiko. Of all the rolls, the scallop with crunch roll was my favorite. We'd definitely be interested in trying out some of their combo sushi entrees in the future so this was a win for us! Holistically, the fish was fresh which is key for sushi but this wasn't 5 stars since not all pieces of the rolls were consistent when it came to the size of the ingredients (some had bigger avo pieces and less fish, one scallop piece was mostly crunch, etc). They also have a lot of deals that they include when you order a certain minimum which is great value! See the picture of the back of the menu for reference.
I just stopped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised that they have their lunch special available on Saturdays! It's a great deal for sure. I got the 3 roll lunch special, which comes with miso soup and salad. My husband got the hibachi shrimp. The 3 rolls was probably overly ambitious on my part because the soup filled me up a bit. I liked that the soup wasn't overly salty like some places make it. The hibachi shrimp came with a veggie fried rice that had a good amount of egg in it and some sautéed vegetables. Everything was good and came out quickly. I also appreciated the complimentary melon they gave when they brought the check. I'd also like to take a moment to compliment their covid preparedness. They don't have outdoor seating but they had all the doors wide open, plastic dividers between tables, sanitizers on every table, a temperature check available at the front, AND they were checking vaccine cards and id's. I can't think of anything else they could possibly do to make diners feel safe. All in all, I would definitely come back.
